What is Laser Frenectomy?
Pull up your top lip and you will notice a webbing of tissue between your two front teeth. Most people don’t know this but It is pretty common that webbing can pull on your gum tissue and cause a recession. Traditionally a dentist would take a scalpel to this area to relieve the webbing and therefore prevent gum recession. Then there would be uncomfortable stitches to contend with during the healing process. Yikes!
Thankfully advances in medicine have made the need for scalpels and sutures a thing of the past. Today we use a minimally invasive laser to relieve the webbed tissue. Because of this technology no stitches are necessary which makes the healing process so much easier. If you’ve noticed your gums receding, it’s time for a check up with your dental hygienist!
